Apparently there’s supposed to be a polar vortex set to sweep across the east coast of the U.S. that will bring one of the worst winters in years.
????A polar vortex occurs when the stratosphere warms which causes winds to change direction, the vortex is then split apart and cold air spills into the mid-latitudes.
????The Washington Post reports that climate researcher Judah Cohen’s models say the storm should hit in late December or early January.
????He wrote in his blog, “This could be the single most important determinant of the weather this winter across the Northern Hemisphere.” ????Last year, a vortex that came from Eurasia hit eastern North America and it caused windstorms that lasted for weeks.
????Although, NOAA scientist Amy Butler says that not all other models are on board with Cohen’s.??
