VFW Annual Christmas Dinner

Dec. 22 from 1-4 p.m. at Onset VFW, 4 Gibbs Ball Park Rd., Onset. For seniors, veterans and people in need. Donations of canned goods, clothing, batteries, socks, food certificates, coats, hats, gloves, etc can be from off Wednesday through Sundays, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the VFW Bunker Lounge.

Messiah and Carol Sing Along

The Greater New Bedford Choral Society will host its second annual Messiah and Carol Sing Along, a family friendly holiday event, on Saturday, Dec. 22 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 884 Kempton St. in New Bedford.

Audience members are invited to bring their Handel Messiah scores to participate in selections from this holiday icon. A limited number of scores will also be available to borrow. Favorite holiday carols will also be included. Admission to this event is $5; maximum $25 per family, available at the door.

The Choral Society has been offering the best of the choral art to the

greater New Bedford region for 54 years.

Putnam Murdock Trio in concert

The Marion Art Center will close out the season on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m. with the Putnam Murdock Trio.

Putnam Murdock (guitar and vocals), Barry Gross (bass and vocals), and Colin Bradley (pedal steel) have been conducting experiments in sonic allure for three years. Creating soundscapes laced with lyric and story, they provide audiences with a unique experience of witnessing the creative process.

A Showstoppers holiday rewind

The Showstoppers community-service singing troupe is offering one last performance of their 2018 Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus on Route 6 in Mattapoisett.

The show will include traditional and non-traditional selections performed by this talented troupe of local singers and special guests sure to please audience members of all ages, organizers say.

Admission is a suggested $5 donation to help cover the expenses of this all volunteer-run nonprofit organization. They will also be collecting non-perishable food items to help restock local food pantries that go bare after the holidays.

The Showstoppers have been bringing live musical entertainment to nursing homes, senior centers, and healthcare facilities as well as providing entertainment at community fairs, fundraisers, and civic events throughout the area since 2002.
