Governor Lalji Tandon felicitates Hindi writers

PATNA: Governor Lalji Tandon on Monday said Hindi has, of late, become people’s language by adopting words from folk and various other Indian languages. Its usage has increased considerably even in the modern age of computer and information technology as it is a scientific language, he said.
Inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan at a colourful function here, Tandon said the history, culture and philosophy of India could be truly expressed only in its national language of Hindi. He said several littérateurs from Bihar, including Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Sheo Pujan Sahay, Janki Ballabh Shastri and Phanishwar Nath ‘Renu’ have enriched the language and made it popular. He called upon the academics and intellectuals to work wholeheartedly for the promotion and development of Hindi language and literature.
The governor released the books written by Shiv Vansh Pandey, Arjun Singh ‘Aditya’, Yogendra Mishra, Punam Anand and Manoj Kumar Verma on the occasion. Eminent Hindi writers Satya Narayan, Khagendra Thakur, Amar Nath Sinha, Shiv Das Pandey, Maheshwar Ojha Mahesh, Shyam Ji Sahay, Shaligram Singh ‘Ashant’, Srikant Singh ’Gautam’, Parmeshwar Bhakt, Vasant Narain Singh and Dinesh Chandra Jha were honoured by the governor for their valuable contributions to Hindi literature.
Prayag Hindi Sahitya Sammelan president Surya Prasad Dixit and Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan president Anil Sulabh traced the glorious history of Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. Patna University retired Hindi teacher Shankar Prasad conducted the programme and sammelan general secretary Shiv Vansh Pandey proposed a vote of thanks.
