
In the IPL Player Auctions 2019 Jaydev Unadkat once again earned big as he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.4 crore. Joining him in the 8 crore club is mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy who was bought for a whopping 8.4 crore from a base price of 20 lakh by Kings XI Punjab. Uncapped all rounder, Shivam Dubey was bagged by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 5 crore. However, veteran allrounder Yuvraj Singh remained unsold. Brendon McCullum also remained unsold.
Other players who made the big money moves are- Sam Curran (7.2 crore to KXIP), Carlos Brathwaite (5 crore to KKR), Axar Patel (5 crore to DC), Mohit Sharma (5 crore to CSK), Mohammed Shami (4.8 crore KXIP), Shimron Hetmyer (4.2 crore to RCB) and Nicholas Pooran (4.2 core to KXIP) –
Other notable buys in the auctions included Jonny Bairstow (2.2 crore to SRH), Varun Aaron by (Rajasthan Royals 2.4 crore) and Hanuma Vihari (2 crore to DC). Among those who were bought back by their respective franchises were Lasith Malinga ( 2 crore to MI) and Wriddhiman Saha (1.2 crore).
It was no surprise that 37-year-old Yuvraj, who was a sought after player in the IPL for a long time, reamained unsold as he endured a lean run in the 2018 edition after KXIP bought him at a base price of Rs two crore before releasing him in November. He entered into the auction with a base price of Rs one crore and could still find a buyer later in the auction if he is among the unsold players brought back into the pool by the franchises. Other high-profile players who remained unsold were Cheteshwar Pujara and Chris Woakes.
