GURUGRAM: A two-year-old child was allegedly beaten up and forced to sleep on the floor at a playschool in Sector 49. A teacher has been booked after the boy’s parents filed a police complaint.
Police said the child, who lives in Sector 50, was dropped at the playschool by his parents on Friday afternoon and picked up around 4.30pm. His parents noticed swelling on the boy's face after they reached home. They immediately returned to the playshool and raised the matter. They demanded to see the CCTV footage and found that the boy had been beaten by a teacher when other children were sleeping.
“In the footage, a teacher is seen slapping my child and forcing him to sleep on the floor of the corridor. He was denied food and was given milk only when he woke up hungry,” the parents told cops in their complaint. An FIR was registered against the teacher under Section 323 (assault) of the IPC and Section 75 (punishment for cruelty to child) of the Juvenile Justice Act at Sector 50 police station on Tuesday
“We are recording the statement of people connected with the case,” said inspector Surender Singh Phogat, SHO of Sector 50 police station. No arrests have been made. The playchool management denied the allegations and said it was a “small issue” which has been settled. “We are cooperating with police,” a representative said.
