Though Apple did lay off a few dozen employees working on the proposed Project Titan, the company isn’t officially throwing in the towel just yet. In an open letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Apple is pushing for the "same opportunity" as established brands to test autonomous technology on public roads. Interesting.

The million-dollar Valkyrie is getting a more affordable, mid-engined baby brother. Aston Martin has plans to introduce a mid-engined sports car into the lineup in the next few years to compete directly with cars like the Ferrari 488 and McLaren 720S. Most of the details are still well under wraps, but we do know that development will be carried out by former Ferrari engineer, Max Szwaj, who knows a thing or two about sports cars.

The BMW 1 Series is overdue for an update. Thankfully, the upcoming F20 / F21 generation should be entirely new. Rendered here as a hatchback for Europe, the new 1 Series should come in two configurations: Five- and two-door, as well as a fresh platform underneath. BMW’s strongest four-cylinder gasoline engine currently has 258 horsepower (192 kilowatts) – so that would be a candidate for a 130i.

Alongside the standard 8 Series coupe, BMW will drop the top of its newest vehicle in the form of the 8 Series convertible. The rendering pictured here, using spy photos and teasers to work with, gives us an idea of what to expect. BMW's classic 4.4-liter biturbo V8 should be underhood, delivering somewhere in the neighborhood of 630 horsepower (437 kilowatts).

It seems only natural that BMW would amplify its i range with something to compliment the i3 and i8. The proposed i5 would be larger than the i3 hatchback and may offer in excess of 200 miles (321 kilometers) of range. Unlike the other i cars, BMW wants its latest i car to be "the first car in the household," said Henrik Wenders, Head of Product for the i division.

While Ford may be planning a Mustang-based SUV in just a few years, Chevy hasn't committed to a Camaro high-rider... yet. But don't put it past the bowtie brand to introduce some sort of Camaro-inspired SUV within the next decade; with more marque's switching to SUV-heavy ranges, Chevy could be the next brand to ditch most of its cars.

Vacuum-maker Dyson wants to get into the vehicle production came; Founder and CEO, Sir James Dyson, announced earlier in 2017 that the company would be investing £2 billion (almost $2.7B) into the project. It's unclear exactly what the vehicle might look like, but with some McLaren-inspired cues, the sports car has come to life digitally.

The Bronco is back. While rumors have been swirling seemingly for decades as to the arrival of a new Bronco, Ford released even more details about the upcoming SUV.

The new Bronco and a new Ranger will be built together at Ford’s Wayne, Michigan, facility and are expected to go on sale sometime in 2019 for the 2020 model year.

Ford is killing off its cars in place of more SUVs – thankfully, the Mustang will stick around for another few years still. But don't think the pony car is completely safe. Ford has already confirmed that a Mach 1 electric SUV with Mustang cues is coming in a few years; if we had our way, this is how it might look.

One of the best things about driving the current GT350 is the sound of anger that comes from the engine bay. The 5.2-liter V8 with a flatplane crankshaft makes a wonderfully aggressive noise, and the GT500 needs to amplify that bellicose roar.

The good news for fans of an angry exhaust note is that rumors suggest the GT500 uses a version of the GT350 V8 with a 2.6-liter supercharger sitting on top. The combination sounds perfect for making a mighty roar to us.

If you thought the idea of a Lamborghini SUV was outrageous, why not try this Ferrari SUV rendering on for size? CEO Sergio Marchionne has finally confirmed the speculations of a high-riding utility vehicle within the Ferrari lineup, though, the company reportedly needs somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 months to complete the venture. The project has been given the internal codename FX16, and will share its platform with Ferrari’s replacement to the GTC4Lusso.

Honda teased us with the Urban EV concept at Frankfurt in 2017. But with new prototypes on the road, the adorable EV should be available sometime in 2019. Honda hasn’t provided us with a ton of info, unfortunately, but we expect the five-door to compete directly with other electric vehicles like the Nissan Leaf.

You might have forgotten that the Maserati GranTurismo even existed. But after ten years on the market having gone virtually unchanged, it’s in serious need of a makeover. The rendering seen here isn’t revolutionary, but it keeps the iconic lines of the sports coupe intact, while bringing it into the modern era. Too bad we won’t see it until at least 2020. 

If the new Insignia is any indication, Opel is moving in the right direction design-wise. That mature look could carry over into a production version of the GT sports car, which is rumored to hit the market in the next few years… assuming the company is able to make a viable business case for one.

Following the debut of the lukewarm Buick Regal GS, Opel is likely to follow up with a hot offering all its own. The Opel Insignia OPC is expected to make its debut either late in 2017, or early in 2018. The upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show seems like the most likely candidate. If and when the Insignia OPC is produced, expect a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing upwards of 310 horsepower (231 kilowatts).

We’re not exactly holding out hope for a production Lamborghini sports sedan, but the Urus did get us thinking: what if? The Italian sports car maker is reportedly considering a fourth model after the Urus, and a sedan could be the most likely candidate. Using some familiar cues borrowed from the SUV and the Huracan before it, this four-door Lambo looks ready to for the production line.

Porsche’s next iteration of its iconic 911 sports car could come with some added oomph courtesy of a lithium ion battery. Spy photos have given us an early look at the proposed battery-powered coupe, but it’s still unclear when the German marque will show off its all-new sports car. It could even come with upwards of 700 horsepower (521 kilowatts).

Range Rover's current lineup consists of SUVs and crossovers exclusively. But the marque could be expanding; reports point to a car-based “Road Rover” project sometime in 2020. The proposed Road Rover will share its underpinnings with the next-generation Jaguar XJ, could have an electric powertrain similar to Jaguar's I-Pace, and upwards of 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts).

Porsche's first electric vehicle – pronounced Tay-cahn – should be quick. Powered by two permanent asynchronous electric motors, the Taycan will produce at least 600 horsepower (440 kilowatts) when it arrives, giving it the ability to sprint to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in less than 3.5 seconds. Underneath its skin sits Volkswagen Group's J1 platform, which will also underpin the Audi E-Tron GT. Expect the new Taycan early next year.

As early as may we saw the updated SEAT Leon on public roads (in camouflage, of course). But in just a few months, we should see the fresh hatchback in full. This render visualizes the Spanish five-door in full ahead of its debut. Rumor is that the Leon will be SEAT’s first hybrid vehicle, with the ability to drive up to 31 miles (50 kilometers) on pure electric energy.

Lusting after a pint-sized French hatchback? Look no further. The new Renault Clio will make its debut in just a few months, complete with a fresh look and a range of new engine options. Under the hood should sit 1.3- and 1.5-liter engine options, updated to pass the latest emission regulations.

Even though Tesla is fresh off its debut of the new Model 3, and its proposed record-breaking Roadster, the company still has plans to introduce a smaller SUV slotted underneath the Model X. It'll be called the Model Y, and it should borrow some familiar cues from the rest of the electric range.

Arguably the most anticipated vehicle debut of the past few years, the arrival of the all-new Toyota Supra should be well worth the wait. Previewed by the stunning FT-1 concept we saw back in 2014, and again with the GR Racing concept just a few months ago, it’s only a matter of time before the Supra is back on the road and back in our hearts.

In part deux of Elon Musk’s "Master Plan," the Tesla CEO outlined a "new kind of pickup truck." While we’re not sure entirely what that means just yet, the idea of instant torque and an attractive design makes it an interesting proposal nonetheless. If and when the new pickup does arrive, it won’t be until at least 2020.
