Film industry delegation meets PM, pitches for uniform GST rates

A delegation from the film and fraternity met on Tuesday and asked for lower and uniform (GST) rates for the industry.

The delegation also called for development of as the global capital through various initiatives and proactive approaches. The group comprised of producers and CEOs of companies in the industry.

Expressing their strong support towards Modi's vision for making a five trillion dollar economy, the delegation gave an overview of the vast growth potential of the media and industry in India, and said that this sector is poised to contribute in a significant way towards this goal.

In his response, the said, "The Indian entertainment industry enjoys immense popularity across the world. It is one of the key elements of India's rising soft power status, globally."

He also assured that the Union is supportive of the media and entertainment industry, and would consider the suggestions positively.

Bollywood actors and directors including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Rakesh Roshan, Karan Johar, Siddhartha and Central Board of (CBFC) Prasoon Joshi, were present at the meeting.
