Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe Starts At $136,500 In America

The Mercedes-AMG Four-Door Coupe will arrive in US dealerships early next year and the automaker has finally revealed the Porsche Panamera Turbo competitor will have a base price of $136,500.

At launch, the entry-level model will be the GT 63 Coupe which features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission and a performance-oriented all-wheel drive system. This enables the hatchback to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately 3.3 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h).

Mercedes didn’t say much else about the US-spec model, but it will come standard with AMG Performance seats, a rear-axle steering system and power rear spoiler. Drivers will also find an AMG Dynamic Select system, red brake calipers and an AMG Ride Control+ air suspension with adjustable damping.

The range-topping GT 63 S Coupe starts at $159,000 and it features a more powerful V8 engine that develops 630 hp (469 kW / 638 PS) and 664 lb-ft (899 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the extra power, the dash from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) drops to approximately 3.1 seconds and the top speed climbs to 195 mph (313 km/h).

Besides the more powerful engine, the S variant has yellow brake calipers and an all-wheel drive system with a dedicated drift mode. The model also comes standard with an AMG performance exhaust and the AMG Dynamic Plus Package which includes active engine mounts, a RACE mode and special steering wheel controls.

In mid-2019, Mercedes will introduce the GT 53 Coupe. It features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with EQ boost technology. The engine develops 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS) and 384 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque, while the electric motor can contribute an additional 21 hp (15 kW / 21 PS).

Pricing remains unconfirmed, but the Porsche Panamera 4S competitor runs from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately 4.4 seconds before topping out at 174 mph (280 km/h). Unsurprisingly, it’s not as well equipped as the aforementioned models as it has a traditional nine-speed automatic transmission and an AMG sport suspension with steel springs.
