'Bomb threat' grounds plane: TigerAir flight to Melbourne forced to return to Sydney Airport after claims there were explosives on board

TigerAir flight TT271 to Melbourne has been forced to return to Sydney Airport after reports of a bomb on board the plane.
NSW Police confirmed to Daily Mail that a police operation is underway at the airport, adding that all threats are to be taken seriously until deemed safe.
A spokesperson said the first call came in at 8.30pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at the domestic terminal following the call.

TigerAir confirmed the plane returned safely to Sydney Airport at 8.35pm.
'The Captain made the decision to return to Sydney following an incident onboard,' the airline said in a statement.
'In line with standard procedures, the Australian Federal Police met the aircraft on arrival.
'The safety of our crew and guests is always our highest priority and we are working with the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.'
A source told the Daily Mail passengers are still on board the plane which has been towed to bay 58 at Terminal 2.
Passengers on board the flight have taken to social media and indicated they are unaware as to why the plane returned to Sydney.
'We flew for an hour and then we just landed back in Sydney. We haven’t been told why yet,' one passenger said.
Another passenger told Daily Mail plane staff had told the passengers little.
'Police are everywhere, but still not left the plane. So I assume [they're] still checking.'
He said the other passengers on the flight appeared calm given the situation.
