GHAZIABAD: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has sought Rs 20 lakh more from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) for preparing a revised detailed project report for extending the Noida Electronic City-Sahibabad metro route to Mohan Nagar under the phase 3 project. DMRC has said the extension would increase the original route by 2km.

“The DMRC has raised the fee for preparing a revised DPR for the extension line under the phase 3 project. This means the GDA will have to pay Rs 1.29 crore instead of Rs 1.09 crore,” an official said. “Initially, we had planned to connect Noida Electronic City with Sahibabad. But later, it was decided that the line will be extended up to Mohan Nagar. So, the distance has increased from 5.11km to 7.11km. The DMRC is charging us Rs 10 lakh per km,” the official said.

The GDA has already paid the DMRC Rs 34 lakh for preparing the report and plans to clear the remaining amount in the days to come. The DMRC has said it will submit the revised DPR only after the payment is made in full. The GDA had last week written to the DMRC seeking a revised DPR in 10 days.

The DMRC had in February submitted its first DPR for two metro extension projects — the other being Vaishali to Sahibabad. The total cost of the projects has been pegged at Rs 3,711 crore. According to the initial DPR, the estimated cost of the Noida Electronic City-Sahibabad line was Rs1,926 crore, which is now bound to go up in the revised DPR due to the extension to Mohan Nagar.
