Pune Rly Division gets `5.28 cr from non-fare revenue this year

Pune: The Pune Railway Division has increased non-fare revenue (NFR). The Division has adopted the ‘New Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme’ (NINFRIS), which helped the Division earn Rs 5.28 crore from advertising in all stations that come under the division from April to November this year.

According to officials from the Division, earning revenue apart from passenger fare is a big task. To raise the revenue, the division uses ATMs, digital display system, advertisement hoardings and vinyl wrapping in express and mail trains. “We earned Rs 5.28 crore from April to November this year. The revenue was, as expected, collected after giving space to the advertisers at Pune Junction, Kolhapur, Miraj and Sangli,” said Pune Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Krishnath Patil.  The scheme was executed at the divisional level in the Zonal Railways. The scheme was launched on May 21 this year.
  
As per the scheme, display of advertisements in Passenger Reservation System (PRS) tickets, robotic massage chair with foot massager and Body Mass Index (BMI) machines, BMI Kiosk at various stations/workshops, Light-Emitting Diode (LED) digital wall/screens, Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification in train coaches, micro smart stay lounge, mobile application-based Suburban Tracking Systems, Three Dimensional (3D) product displays for products and services, mobile towers and small cell units proposal, projection mapping technology, vinyl wrappings on platform raisers, advertisements on pay slips, advertisement rights on bottle crushing machines, advertisements in EMU rakes through public information systems, on-board shopping in mail/express trains, exhibitions at stations, market contracts, promotion of railway ticketing application (unreserved ticketing system on phones), Heritage Café, Health ATMs, jingles at various stations, plaza at station and setting up mobile food court at railway stations, publicity on panel truss and ceiling of platform shelter, publicity rights on glass façade at railway stations and dual display infotainment systems.

According to sources, the Division has generated Rs 26.36 lakh from ATMs  on the premises of the stations including Pune Junction, Station Digital Display System which is only in Pune generated Rs 7.5 lakh, advertisement hoardings generated Rs 4.8 crore, Vyoma, which is set at PRS ticket window at all counters including Pune Junction, Deccan, Hadapsar, Kolhapur, Sangli and Miraj generated Rs 7 lakh. Recently, the Division has done vinyl wrapping on the Secunderabad Shatabdi Express which cost Rs 13 lakh.
