KALYAN: A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) corporator’s son allegedly held three youths captive at his mother’s office, beat them up them with a belt and rod, and stripped one of them naked after they told him to move his car one side as it had blocked the road early on Sunday. The youths approached Khadakpada police, who after registering an FIR of kidnapping and assault, launched a hunt for the accused.

Those booked were Rahul Kot, son of corporator, Sunanda, his associates Amit Kot, Ayyub Pavaskar, Javed Shaikh and Pavnya. The complainant, Aakash Chandanshive (23), a driver, alleged that at 2am on Sunday, he and his friends, Prashant Waghchaure and Siddhesh Ghadegaonkar, was going towards his house on their motorcycle, when they found a parked car and two motorcycles, and five accused, including Rahul, talking on the road near Phule Nagar.

Aakash said Siddhesh told the five to move their car, but Rahul and his friends allegedly started assaulting them. Police said Siddhesh fled from spot after the incident but the five allegedly held Aakash and Prashant captive. They allegedly threatened them and told them to call Siddhesh to his mother, Sunanda’s office in Mohane, where they had taken the two. Police said after Siddhesh reached the office, Rahul and the four others allegedly stripped Siddhesh naked, assaulted him with a belt, stating that the area belonged to him and no one should dare to speak against them.

Aakash alleged that after assaulting the trio with a belt and rod, they allowed them to go home on Sunday at 4am, threatening them not to approach police, or they would file a false theft case against them.

The youths approached police on Monday and filed a complaint against the five. Police said they visited the houses of the accused but all were on the run.

Aakash told TOI, “When Rahul and his supporters were assaulting us, we begged them to release us but they continued.” Siddhesh was admitted to Rukminibai hospital for treatment, he said.

Rahul told mediapersons that he was innocent and said Siddhesh abused them first, resulting in his supporters assaulting him. Rahul said police can check CCTV footage of his mother’s office, claiming they did not assault anyone. Rahul, who was celebrating his birthday, had gone to Shirdi for darshan on Saturday, and after returning, was talking to supporters when the incident occurred, he said.

Senior police inspector Balasaheb Kadam said, “Our team is searching for the accused who are on the run.”

In August, four persons, including MNS corporator Sanjay Turde, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a contractor in Kurla, in Mumbai.
