Ex-cop’s son creates ruckus, police file no FIR
Soumitra Bose | TNN | Dec 17, 2018, 03:43 ISTNagpur: A former deputy SP’s kin, having several offences against him including dacoity, triggered a ruckus at Ramdaspeth following a tiff with pan kiosk owners. The pan kiosk owners, harassed routinely by the cop’s son, ganged up to teach him a lesson leaving him with an injury on head. Despite the free for all, no FIR was lodged at Sitabuldi police station.
Sources said cop’s son frequents the pan kiosks at Ramdaspeth in the wee hours with friends demanding taking many items without paying. Last week, the former cop’s son and his friends had a fight with a kiosk owner. According to a source, cop’s son had also threatened the pan kiosk owners with a firearm.
One of the owners, on condition of anonymity, said the cop’s son and his friends would forcibly demand various commodities for free. “We are always scared of him as he has a criminal history. He also comes with persons having anti-social associations that terrifies us more,” he said.
“He had a gun with him with which he threatened us. A few of us got together in self-defence as it had become necessary for us to thwart him to save our earnings,” said the owner. “He has influence on police too. Cops see him at Ramdaspeth with goons but never question him,” he said.
It is learnt the former cop, associated with Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) Nagpur region on contract basis, had rushed to Sitabuldi police station the day following incident trying to settle the issue.
Senior PI Hemant Kharabe said the pan-kiosk owners had also thrashed the cop’s son in such a way that he had to be rushed to hospital. “The cop’s son had got 10-stitches on his head. We were ready to register offence against both the sides but later the owners did not come to police station,” he said.
