NOIDA: Pointing out various loopholes in the implementation of the notification by the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC), for conversion from single to multi-point connections, the residents’ body NEFOWA has written to the UP chief minister and the state power minister demanding that the high cost of conversion be recovered from the security deposit charged by the discoms at the time of giving connection.

In the letter to Yogi Adityanath and power minister Shrikant Sharma, residents have explained that the new rule will add an extra burden on the residents as some of the builders have demanded around Rs 60,000 for the conversion along with pointing out that even after the mentioned conversion, the responsibility of maintenance of the set-up will not let them free from the shackles of the builders.

“Some builders have informed the estimated cost of conversion would be around Rs 60,000. This will increase the monetary burden on the residents,” reads the letter.

Meanwhile, the UPERC has called an open session for the consumers, developers and various residents’ body on Monday to take their suggestions regarding the power tariffs.

S K Verma, chief engineer, Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) said, “The session will be organised at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra in Sector 6 from 11am to 3.30 pm.”
