Gujarat: Man held with Rs 3.8 crore in demonetised currency

SURAT: Police seized around Rs 3.80 crore in demonetised currency notes here in the early morning Sunday and arrested a man.
During a routine checking of vehicles in Rander locality, Rs 3.80 crore in the defunct Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were seized from a car, said inspector RM Sarode.
Vishal Barad, who was carrying the cash, told police that he had collected it from a person in Vadodara, Sarode said.
"He hasn't yet disclosed how he was going to utilise the scrapped notes," the officer said, adding that he was put under arrest and further probe was on.
