FIR against MNC staffers for cheating travel firm

Pune: An FIR has been registered against the product manager and other staffers of an United Kingdom (UK)-based company for allegedly duping a city-based travel and tours company to the tune of Rs 1.43 crore.
 
The multi-national company (MNC) is a global supplier of plastic compound products. The accused allegedly purchased and used 98 international air tickets, but did not pay the firm. 

Nikhil Thakurdas (42) lodged the FIR with Koregaon Park police station in this regard. The incident took place between August 27 and September 2 in 2015.

According to the police, Thakurdas has been booking tickets for the MNC’s staffers for the last eight years. The MNC has its India office in Vadodara, Gujarat. The accused product manager John Steele and others had got the tickets and used them to travel, but did not pay the fare amount to Thakurdas. After repeated attempts, when he did not get the money, Thakurdas lodged the complaint with Pune city police on Saturday. 

The police have charged the accused persons for offences under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police Sub-Inspector NM Pawar is investigating the case.
