Tamil Nadu: Gang opens fire on Tasmac employees near Krishnagiri, snatches Rs 3.5 lakh

KRISHNAGIRI: An unidentified gang snatched Rs 3.5 lakh from two Tasmac liquor shop employees after opening fire on them near Uthankarai in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday night.


Tasmac employees Murugan,38, and Anandhan 36 of Kateri village suffered injuries when the unidentified men opened fire on them.

The incident happened when Murugan and Anandhan were returning home after duty.


The gang waylaid the duo and asked them to give them the money they were carrying from the liquor outlet. "When the duo refused to give the money, the gang opened fire," an officer at the Uthankarai police station said.


The officer said a bullet was lodged in Anandhan's chest and he was critical.


The duo was admitted to Dharmapuri Government Hospital. Later, Anandhan was referred to Salem Government Super Specialty Hospital.


The police registered a case and further inquiries were on.
