NEW DELHI: Three murders in the city in the last 24 hours have kept cops on their toes. In the first incident, the body of a 22-year-old tattoo artist, missing since Monday evening, was found at an empty plot in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Sunday morning.
DCP (east) Pankaj Singh said the victim has been identified as Babloo, who lived in Pandav Nagar, and a case under IPC sections of murder has been registered. The body was found cut into two parts.
Babloo’s brother said on Monday evening, Babloo had told him he was going out with his friends and would get back late. When he did not return till the next morning, his family members contacted Babloo’s friend, Ankit. Investigating officers said that Ankit and other friends denied meeting Babloo that evening. On Sunday, some locals spotted Babloo’s body lying at the plot. CCTV cameras near the plot are being scanned to identify the killers. Another team is looking into Babloo’s call records.
In another incident, a-24-year-old man was shot dead by his neighbour over an argument in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri on Saturday night. Senior police officers said the incident happened when the victim, Vishal alias Sunny, protested after his neighbbour abused him. Sunny was a dholak player. Police teams scanned through the CCTV footage and recorded the statement of the locals. The accused, Bhopu, was subsequently arrested.
In southwest Delhi’s Sagarpur, a 25-year-old cab driver was gunned down in the early hours of Sunday. The victim, Joginder alias Sonu, was shot by assailants who came on a bike. A magazine and five live rounds were found at the spot. Sonu lived alone in Najafgarh. His brother is lodged in Tihar Jail and a few months ago, his father was also gunned down in their village.
