Porvorim will be first digital constituency in state: Khaunte

PANAJI: Porvorim is going to be the ‘first digital constituency’ in the state, said Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, while speaking after inaugurating Nana Nani Natwache Park in Krantinagar, Porvorim, on Sunday.

Addressing a gathering of the locals, the Revenue Minister said that the digital constituency will serve all purposes – social as well as commercial, and benefit everybody besides generating suitable jobs for sons and daughters of the soil.

“Once Penha de Franca gets IT project, Chimbel becomes IT hub, and Tuem gets electronic park, those trained in IT-enabled services will get a lot of opportunities. The Goan youth who leave the state in search of jobs would not do so in future.”

Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, said, “We need to bury political differences and look at development happening. We need a lot of cooperation and coordination of the people for sustainable development of the state.”

He said that “Khaunte has been making efforts to undertake development projects. One by one projects will be completed in Porvorim and If we want development we have to forget party differences and come together,” adding, “Two more parks are in the offing- one in Britona and other in Socorro.”

Meanwhile, the Krantinagar park has an indoor cricket court, yoga facility, newspaper reading room, food court, go-karting, segway ride, basket ball court, walking trek and multiple play equipment for children.  On the occasion, journalists besides others were felicitated for their contribution to the society.
