More than 700 students receive OP 1 in Queensland
About 21,300 students have achieved an OP between 1 to 15, with 733 students receiving an OP 1.
Nearly 50,000 students graduated from school and almost 31,400 students achieved a VET certificate I, II, III or IV qualification this year, according to Queensland Minister for Education Grace Grace.
Ms Grace said students and their families should be very proud of their results.
"I congratulate those who have done very well in their OP but if they haven't got what they wanted to receive, they should not be disheartened," she said.
"There are many pathways and many opportunities with learning, particularly with free TAFE offering 160 different pathways for students to go down.
"I think the beauty of education these days is that we cater for all students.
"I urge those to take up the opportunity of free TAFE for all year 12 graduating students right here in Queensland."
"I think the system will be received remarkably well but of course, we want to encourage those students who will get their last OP in 2019, it will be just as relevant in 2019 as it will be for the rest of their lives," she said.
OP ranks are based on the results of five senior Authority subjects and rank students between one and 25 while ATAR scores rank students between 0 and 99.95 per cent and can include a VET qualification or Subject Area Syllabus subject.
ATAR scores will follow other states in Australia who already use the ATAR system when it is introduced in Queensland in 2020.
