HYDERABAD: Sircilla legislator KT Rama Rao will take charge as the working president of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) at the Telangana Bhavan in the city on December 17 at 11.56 am. A chamber is also being readied for him at the party office. KTR is known not to be a stickler for things such as auspicious time or numerology but is said to be sailing with the decision of the party leaders on taking charge at specified time.
However, KTR began his work from Saturday itself as he had meeting with the state executive committee. With the responsibility of strengthening the party from the grassroots level being placed on him by TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, KTR began his work in right earnest from the very next day that he was appointed working president.
There are two immediate targets to be met and a plan has been chalked out for them. For the panchayat elections, the party would like the gram panchayats to make the elections unanimous as far as possible so that they will all be of one mind in developing their gram panchayats for which the government has allocated Rs 10 lakh each.
More importantly, KTR laid down the path that is to be tread for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in April/May 2019. There are 17 LS constituencies in the state and the party is preparing a strategy for 16 constituencies, except the Hyderabad seat which is held by the MIM. One general secretary will be made in charge of every parliamentary constituency. For this purpose, additional general secretaries will be appointed in the party. Two or three secretaries or joint secretaries will also work along with the general secretary in each constituency. Party MLAs and in-charges will be part of the team that will chalk out a course for the TRS candidates win.
TRS general secretary Palla Rajeshwara Reddy who brief the media after the meeting said it was also decided in the state executive that a public grievance cell would be opened at the Telangana Bhavan. Grievances from the public will be accepted here also and directed to the local MLAs and officials for redressal. This will be in addition to the mechanism that exists in every constituency.
Meanwhile, five MLAs who also held party positions were relieved ‘on their request’ following the indication made by party president KCR about ‘one man one post’ in the party. KTR will begin his tour of the districts in a couple of weeks. When the working president is in the city, he will devote two to three hours at the party office to meet visitors and a mechanism will be evolved to facilitate this.
