PUNE: Puneites have started experiencing colder days with the maximum temperature going below 29 degree Celsius in the past few days. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Saturday, Pune city reported maximum day temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius and minimum night temperature of 15 degrees Celsius.
IMD has further predicted that day temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius till December 21 whereas night temperature will be around 14 degrees Celsius and skies will remain clear.
AK Srivastava, head of the climate monitoring and analysis group at IMD, Pune, said that day and night temperatures are in the normal range.
“During this season, the drop in temperature in expected. Early in the month, the temperature was comparatively very high. Now in the north, as there is snowfall, we can witness cooler winds blowing to the southern part, which has attributed to the drop in temperature,” said Srivastava.
Across the State, the temperature is in the normal range. On Saturday, Jalgaon recorded the lowest temperature in the state with 10.3 degree Celsius.
The lowest minimum temperature recorded across the country was 3 degrees at Sikar and Bhilwara in west Rajasthan.
According to IMD, heavy rain at isolated places is likely over Gangetic West Bengal till December 18. Also, shallow to moderate fog conditions are very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.
