Bateman grandmother Edith McKrill mourned after shooting in Perth's south
A man who was walking his dog past the scene of a deadly shooting in Perth's south has told how he discovered the woman who had been shot.
Edith McKrill, in her 50s, was shot dead at her house in Bateman on Friday night and a man, believed to be her ex-partner, was found critically injured at the scene. He died in hospital on Saturday afternoon.
Ms McKrill's mother, understood to be visiting from overseas, was a witness to her daughter's death, 9 News Perth reported.
A woman in her 70s was seen leaving the house moments after the shooting. She was extremely upset and could not speak much English. She managed to stop a passer-by who then called triple-zero.
Kenneth Cheok told the ABC he called the police after seeing an injured man on the ground, breathing heavily.
"I walked a little further and I see this poor lady … she is lying on the ground in a pool of blood," he said.
"She wasn't breathing at all … she looked like she was dead.
"It was quite a traumatic experience.
"You don't see these things every day."
Just before 7pm WA Police were called to a residence in Scouler Way.
Friends said Edith McKrill was a kind person with a loving family.
"My heart goes out to her family, it really does ... her kids and her grandkids and her mum. Its a real loss to this world. She will be remembered for her light, that is for sure," friend Katie Bailey said.
Initial information provided suggested a person at the address had been shot, and that a man at the front of the address also appeared injured.
A police spokesman said upon arrival officers found two people, a man and a woman, injured. They found and seized a firearm.
St John Ambulance attended and confirmed the woman had died.
Police confirmed on Saturday the 67-year-old man who had been taken to Royal Perth Hospital for medical attention also died.
The man and woman were known to each other, police said.
Homicide Squad detectives are seeking information regarding the incident.
Police have cordoned off the area outside the Scouler Way house.
Witnesses are urged to contact police on 131 444.
