President Donald Trump's former campaign aide, George Papadopoulos, has announced that he intends to run for Congress.

Papadopoulos was recently released from federal prison, where he served a 12 day sentence for lying to FBI investigators about contacts with Russian intermediaries during Trump's presidential campaign.

In a tweet, Papadopoulos wrote, "I will be running for Congress in 2020, and I will win.

Stay tuned." According to a report by The Atlantic, Papadopoulos is currently being looked into by the FBI for actions separate from those that he was recently imprisoned for.
