A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli on Saturday afternoon, the police said.
The girl is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The 28-year-old accused lured the girl to his house when her parents were at work.
He brought the victim to his house — even as his wife and two-year-old daughter were present in the same building — and raped her, said a senior police officer.
Sitting outside house
The incident was reported on Saturday afternoon.
The girl was spotted by a woman in her locality.
She said the victim was sitting outside her house and crying.
The girl then narrated the ordeal to the woman, who told the parents of the victim about the incident and later informed the police.
“Before the police reached the spot, several locals had attempted to catch the accused, but he managed to flee. The girl was rushed to a hospital by the police. A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections of rape and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,” added the police officer.
The police also said that the girl has undergone treatment and is currently stable and out of danger.
Neighbours told the police that the girl was playing outside her house on Saturday afternoon, when the accused took her to his house on the pretext of playing with her.
They said that the victim had gone with him since he was known to her.
The man lives a few lanes away from her shanty.
