Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate interstate services from Pamba during the Sabarimala season from this weekend. The buses will ferry passengers to Palani, Tenkasi, Madurai and Coimbatore districts in Tamil Nadu.

The KSRTC is introducing these services considering the rush of pilgrims for the Mandala puja at the hill shrine. The transport corporation has arranged a total of 20 buses for interstate services. “The arrangements to operate the interstate services have been completed. Additional buses for return journey will be arranged considering the number of devotees,” said a KSRTC official.

Forty more buses have been arranged for daily services to Chengannur, Kottayam, Kumily, Erumeli, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Guruvayoor, Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram and Thiruvalla. Facility to reserve seats online has also been provided for the devotees. The KSRTC has deployed 54 drivers and conductors and 41 mechanical employees at Pamba for the Sabarimala season.

The corporation is also operating a free service on Thriveni–Pamba route. Chain services of AC and non-AC buses are being operated under three centres on Pamba route.
