Woman in 50s dead after Bateman shooting, man found injured

A woman aged in her 50s died at a house in Bateman on Friday night.

Just before 7pm WA Police were called to a residence in Scouler Way.

Initial information provided suggested a person at the address had been shot, and that a man at the front of the address also appeared injured.

Information was also obtained that a firearm could be seen.

A police spokesman said upon arrival officers found two people, a man and a woman, injured. They found and seized a firearm.

St John Ambulance attended and confirmed the woman had died.

The injured man, aged in his 60’s, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital. He remains there under police guard.

The man and woman were known to each other, police said.

Homicide Squad detectives are seeking information regarding the incident.

Police have cordoned off the area outside the Scouler Way house.
