Eight persons were Saturday detained and foreign cigarettes worth Rs 3.3 crore were seized in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team stopped a tempo on Bhiwandi-Kaman Road in Waliv area of Vasai here at around 4:30am and made the seizure, Inspector Prakash Birajdar of Waliv police station said.
He said the cigarettes, packed in 150 cartons, were of Indonesian make and were headed for Mumbai.
