VISAKHAPATNAM: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started probe into the murder of ruling TDP MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao of Araku Assembly Constituency and former MLA Siveri Soma of Araku. NIA had first investigated a murder case of Jhakhand MLA Ramesh Munda, who was killed by naxals in 2008 and they conducted probe into Congress leader Mahendra Karma brutally killed by the Maoists at Dhaba Valley in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh in 2013.
According to sources, NIA officials had filed an FIR in the Vijayawada court for the investigation due to the importance of the case as the incident had taken place close to the Andhra-Orissa border area and several alleged lapses had come for debate.
MLA Kidari Saveswara Rao and former MLA Soma were murdered at Livitiputu village in Dumbriguda mandal in Visakha agency on September 23 of this year while they were going to a interior village to meet the people. A large number of Maoists, including plainclothes persons, surrounded the vehicles and kllled them.
“NIA has taken the case for probe. The AP police has not asked for their probe. They initiated the probe due to the importance of case nature as there were allegations of lapses of security personnel of both states,” on condition of anonymity one of the senior police officer told TOI.
The 2007 batch officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre K Reddy landed in the city along with his team a couple of days ago and took away the CD files of the case. They have also taken away some accused. But cops are not confirming it.
