Cold intensifies in state, chilly winds blow in city

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Cold has intensified in the state including capital as the city recorded night temperature at 12 degree Celsius while day temperature was recorded at 24 degree Celsius.

Chilly winds were witnessed in the evening on Wednesday and in the early morning hours on Thursday. The sun failed to surface during the day and in the afternoon temperature remained at lower level.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Balaghat, Mandla,Seoni, Chindwara and Betul districts are likely to receive rainfall. The wind speed would be recorded around 10 km per hour.

The weatherman said the depression over southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify further into a deep depression in next 12 hours and into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours.

It is likely to move northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts in next 72 hours. Another cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and neighbourhood also persists. The trough from this system to south Chhattisgarh across Telangana and Vidarbha also persists.

According to the forecast, all these weather systems may lead to rainfall over isolated places in Eastern Madhya Pradesh. Few regions which recorded rainfall were Sabalgarh which recorded 2 mm of rainfall, Morena recorded 1.8 mm and Gwalior recorded 1.6 mm in the past 24 hours.

The lowest temperature which was recorded at 5 degree Celsius on Wednesday increased slightly on Thursday and was recorded at 6 degree Celsius. The lowest night temperature was recorded in Mandla at 6.4 degree Celsius and few other places were recorded night temperature around 7 degree Celsius.
