OSLO: Lundin Petroleum must redesign the electricity supply to its Edvard Grieg oilfield, in line with plans laid when the company won permission to develop the North Sea resource in 2012, the Norwegian energy ministry said on Friday.

Currently powered with gas turbines, the field's electricity should be supplied via power cable from land from 2022 onwards, coinciding with the startup of the second phase of the nearby Johan Sverdrup oilfield, which will also use land-based power.

The Sverdrup phase 1, Gina Krog and Ivar Aasen fields will also get power from land in a bid to cut emissions from the extraction of oil and gas.
