City to host trans celebration
tnn | Dec 15, 2018, 00:49 ISTCoimbatore: Sahodari Foundation will conduct ‘Trans Talents Rendezvous’ on the occasion of its 10th anniversary on Saturday.
The event, which will be held at Jenneys Residency, mainly targets youngsters but is open to public, said Kalki Subramaniam, founder of Sahodari Foundation. “Sahodari is a small organization but it has been a pioneer in achieving so much in terms of fighting for social justice and equality for transgenders across the country,” she said. “This event is a celebration of love and happiness because, today, transgenders have achieved many milestones in various fields including law, entrepreneurship and mainstream media.”
It will witness a debate between two prominent trans activists and actresses Revathi and Kalki.
Bharatanatyam, folk music and Bollywood numbers will add colour to the event. “We have also invited a special guest, Celia Sandhya Daniels, who is an Indian born Tamil transgender activist, who lives in the United States of America, to perform on the guitar and sing for us,” said Kalki.
