New Delhi: Post the electoral losses in the just concluded assembly elections, the BJP received a boost of confidence when the Supreme Court on Friday gave the Centre a clean chit on procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France.

Soon after the verdict, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to marvel at the BJP's luck.

"The BJP really has the devil's luck (relax I'm not calling you devil's, it's only an idiom). The Rafale verdict couldn't have come at a better time after the electoral setback," Abdullah wrote.

The Congress has been alleging the contract to purchase 36 French multi-role fighter aircraft was overvalued and that it was tainted by “crony capitalism”.

The BJP leaders who have been unusually quiet post the election results, suddenly sprung into action and launched a counterattack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi in particular.

Leading the attack was BJP president Amit Shah, who said: "Truth always triumphs. Court judgement on Rafael deal exposes the campaign of misinformation spearheaded by Congress president for political gains. The court didn't find and wrong with the process nor did it find any commercial favoritism in the deal."

The BJP's official Twitter handle also put out a spoof on Rahul Gandhi titled "Rahul baba nahin manenge (Rahul will not understand)."

In Parliament, Home Minister Rajasthan Singh demanded that Rahul apologise to the nation and accused theCongress chief of maligning country's image globally. The Congress though is still insisting in a Joint Parliamentary probe.
