9 killed, 50 injured in train accident in Turkey train crash

At least nine persons were killed and 50 injured in a train accident in Tukey’s capital Ankara on Thursday. Official sources said, the accident occurred when a high-speed train hit a railway engine and crashed into a pedestrian overpass at the station.

The train was en route from Ankara to the central Turkish city of Konya.

Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin said the train crashed into an engine that was checking the tracks at a station.

He said, search and rescue efforts are underway and technical investigations have begun to ascertain what caused the accident. The accident occurred at about 6:30 local time.
