The choirs might be carolling, but Freddy Koikaran and his crew of the ‘Jingle Jays’ want to offer up some contemporary flair this holiday season. “It’s the third year of the Swiss Hutte’s Christmas Confectionary Carnival, but the first time we have come together in this sort of concert,” says the founder of Stagefright Productions.
The veteran theatre artist, who has been performing in Chennai since 2004 says that the seven-member group will perform a holiday lineup that boasts popular Christmas hits by Michael Buble, Lady Antebellum, Mariah Carey and more. “At last year’s carnival, we randomly began singing carols, jamming with a guitar. That got the ball rolling for this year’s show,” he laughs. Joined by Joe Raadhas and SM Jayaker on vocals, Sherin Joel (bass guitar), Jonathan Stephen (acoustic guitar and vocals), Allen Joel (keyboards) and Jason Kennedy (percussion), the show has Koikaran revisiting after the stage after quite a hiatus. “It’s a passion project for sure. And what better time to celebrate passion than the holidays?”
