Sanders speaks out on Kushner, Cohen and Trump's inauguration

(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters on Thursday (December 13) she's 'not aware' that Jared Kushner is being considered for President Donald Trump's chief of staff.

"But as I think all of us here would recognize, he will be great in any role that the president chooses to put him in," said Sanders.

President Donald Trump has been hearing appeals from some advisers to consider his son-in-law and senior adviser Kushner for the position of White House chief of staff, two sources familiar with the situation said on Thursday.

One of the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Kushner is currently not inclined to pursue the position.

Sanders spoke to reporters about the sentencing of Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney.

"The president was clear that he directed no one to do anything wrong.

Particularly Michael Cohen, he's been clear on this.

And I think we've seen that play day in and day out, as we've all said a number of times," said Sanders.

Sanders was also asked about the Wall Street Journal's Thursday report that federal prosecutors are investigating whether Trump's inaugural committee misspent some of the record $107 million it raised from donors.

"On the inaugural committee, that doesn't have anything to do with the president or the first lady.

This biggest thing the president did... in his engagement on the inauguration was to come here, and raise his hand and take the oath of office.

The president was focused on the transition during that time and not on any of the planning for the inauguration."
