Sakshi clinches U-16 shotput gold

Pune: Sakshi Kulkarni from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Paranjape Vidya Mandir, Kothrud clinched the gold medal in the Under-16 girls shotput event of Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics in progerss at Baburao Sanas ground  here on Thursday.

Sakshi finished with a distance of 8.29 metres to finish on top position. Shreya Elemmi from MES Balshikshan Mandir English Medium School, Kothrud won the silver medal with a distance of 8.00 metres. Clinching the bronze medal was Nikita Chavan from Olympicveer Khashaba Jadhav Kridaniketan 80b & Madhymik School, Sinhagad Road who finished with a distance of 7.78 metres.

In the Under-16 boys final action, Rohan Barate from Mahesh Vidyalaya English Medium, Kothrud emerged victorious with a distance of 10.75 metres thus walking home with the gold medal.

Mihir Patil from Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School, Erandwane clinched the silver medal (10.36 metres) while Vedant Deshmukh from Abhinava Vidyalaya English Medium School, Erandwane has to be content with a bronze with a throw of 10.19 metres.

In the Under-16 boys long jump category, Vedant Dudhane from St. Paul’s School, Camp won the gold with a jump of 5.84 metres.
 
Karan Madke from St. Vincents High School, Camp stood on the second position with a jump of 5.83 metres while Deepak Singh from Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Dehu Road, Dehu Road stood third with a jump of 5.82 metres.

In the Under-14 boys 200 metre race, Arjit Sharma from Army Public School, Ghorpadi proved to be the fastest clocking 25.02 seconds while Anish Ogale from Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Bhugaon finished on second place with a timing of 26.02 seconds.

Yash Bhujbal from Amanora School, Hadapsar stood third clocking 26.04 seconds.
In the girls 200 metre action, Anushka Jachak from St. Joseph High School, Pashan won the gold clocking 28.04 seconds while Aastha Jadhav from Podar International School, Pimpri won the silver clocking 28.8 metres.
