MUMBAI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation inspector, who had his wife and sister-in-law accompany him on a flight where he flew as an examiner and carried out a flight check on two pilots of an aircraft charter company, is under probe.

On Tuesday, TOI carried a report exposing an irregular “examiner release check” by Capt Pankaj Anand, a deputy chief flight operations inspector with the DGCA. On December 4, two Pilatus aircraft pilots of Delhibased aircraft charter company Air Charter Services Ltd operated a Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi flight, during which their skills were tested by Capt Anand, who later designated them as examiners. Onboard the said flight were Capt Anand’s wife and sister-in-law and their hosts, the director of the said charter company and his wife. After the flight, Anand cleared the two pilots to be designated as examiners.
