Incident happened at an engagement party in Dadri

A 14-year old boy died after he suffered bullet injuries during celebratory firing at an engagement ceremony in his locality in Greater Noida’s Dadri on Wednesday, the police said.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, when victim Gaurav Singh, who belonged to Ghodi Bachheda village, had gone to attend his neighbour’s engagement party.

“My boy [victim] had just finished eating. He was walking towards the exit of the ceremonial ground where the groom was with three of his friends, who were firing, when one of the bullets hit him,” said Vinod Chauhan, the deceased’s uncle.

Gaurav was rushed to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida, where he was declared brought dead.

“He was brought dead at the hospital around 5.55 p.m. He suffered bullet injuries in his neck and chest,” stated the medico-legal document of the deceased.

Circle Officer (Dadri) Avneesh Kumar said that based on the complaint of the family, a case under Section 302 (murder) has been registered against one Satender and three others.

“The engagement ceremony was held at Jagdish’s house, where the boy was allegedly shot in his chest. An autopsy was conducted after he was declared brought dead at the hospital,” Mr. Kumar also said.
