He was sworn in along with Chief Minister

Mohammed Mahmood Ali is the Home Minister in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government that was sworn-in on Thursday. Nayani Narasimha Reddy held the portfolio in the previous term of the TRS government.

Mr. Ali was the only Minister sworn in by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan along with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday. He was Revenue Minister in the previous term of the government.

A staunch supporter of Mr. Rao, Mr. Ali has served the TRS since its inception in 2001. He unsuccessfully contested Parliament elections from Secunderabad in 2014. He was elected to the Legislative Council in 2013 for a six-year term.

Meanwhile, the two MLCs of TRS — P. Narender Reddy and Mr. Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao — tendered their resignation as members of the Legislative Council upon their election to the Assembly. The resignations were accepted by Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud.

Two other TRS MPs who were also elected to the Assembly — Balka Suman and Ch. Malla Reddy — are going to New Delhi on Friday to handover their letters of resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. Sources said the TRS proposed to seek the disqualification of its four MLCs — R. Bhoopathi Reddy, Mr. K. Yadava Reddy, Mr. Ramulu Naik and Mr. Konda Muralidhar Rao — who switched loyalties to the Congress in the recent elections. A formal request will be made to Council Chairman.
