Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has exuded confidence that Andhra Pradesh will emerge as a knowledge hub due to the “revolutionary changes” brought in the education sector with emphasis on R&D and adoption of advanced technologies.
Speaking at the ‘Jnanabheri’ programme in Ongole on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu said digital and virtual classrooms were giving a boost to the education sector, and a concerted efforts were being made to improve the standards.
“Priority has been attached to enhancement of skills among the youth who are the country’s biggest advantage,” he said.
Double-digit growth
The State achieved double-digit growth rate because of the economic reforms implemented in the recent years. He asserted that if the State were to grow at the rate of 15%, innovation was needed. The State government was working in that direction.
Stone for university
A sum of ₹15 lakh was being spent on each student pursuing higher education overseas.
Mr. Naidu said the university named after ‘Andhra Kesari’ Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, for which he laid the foundation on Wednesday, would herald a new chapter in education in the district.
Besides, an IIIT was sanctioned for Prakasam district and steps were taken for the establishment of horticulture and veterinary universities and a millet research centre in the district.
Mr. Naidu said a moment would soon come when people would feel proud about the capital city, Amaravati, and the Polavaram project and inter-linking of rivers were going to solve the persistent problem of drought to a large extent.
