Ujjain: Thieves broke into four locked houses on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at Dr Ambedkar Colony and Kaytha and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables. Om Rajoriya, a resident of colony, informed the police after he noticed locks of the houses were broken.
Kaytha police informed that residents Shyamubai, wife of late Bhagirath Rajoriya; Gauribai, wife of late Chogalal Rajoriya; Kailash Chandra Rajoriya and Manohar Rajoriya had gone to attend marriage functions of their relatives after locking their houses. According to information, thieves took away utensils, cash, gold and silver jewellery and other items from there.
Total value of stolen items is yet to be ascertained as the owners have are not returned yet. Residents informed that most of the streetlights are non-functional and no police night patrolling in the colony. This facilitated the thieves to commit the theft. Police have registered cases under Section 380 and 457 of Indian Penal Code and started investigation into the theft.
Cash, jewellery stolen
Unidentified thieves stole cash and jewellery from a locked house in Parvana Nagar, Sanwer Road on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Narendra Jadhav, son of Yashwant Jadhav, informed that he and his family had gone to attend a function in Indore when thieves broke the locks of his and made away with Rs 5,000, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 35,000. The theft came to light after Jadhav family returned to home. He immediately informed Neelganga police and a case was later registered under Section 380 and 457 of Indian Penal Code.
