Man, son-in-law both winners
TNN | Dec 12, 2018, 07:56 ISTA man and his son-in-law, both contesting on Congress tickets, became winners, 20 years after former chief minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and his son-in-law were elected in 1998.
While Lal Chand Kataria won from Jhotwara, his son-in-law Vijaypal Mirdha bagged the Degana seat. Within minutes of TV screens flashing the results, family members of the Katarias started celebrations at their homes in Jaipur’s Sirsi Road and Degana. Mirdha reached Degana followed by his supporters, who marched from Kuchera, his native village. “It is of course a proud moment for me as both my father and husband have become members of the state legislative assembly.
The family of my in-laws have had politicians earlier, such as Richpal Singh Mirdha, who remained a member of the legislative assembly for long,” said Tina Kataria Mirdha, the Degana victor's wife. Kataria said his son-in-law's performance in the polls had proved a point.
