Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland will provide ELBIT Systems of Israel high mobility vehicles (HMV) for mounting the latter’s artillery guns and systems. This follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two companies on Wednesday. The integrated systems are targeted at worldwide export markets. Ashok Leyland has expertise in design and manufacture of logistics vehicles, combat support high mobility vehicles (HMVs) and armoured vehicles for the defence forces. “We are certain that this partnership will expand our reach globally. This step is also in line with our strategy of increasing contribution from our defence business which will help us de-risk our overall business,” a release quoted Vinod K. Dasari, MD, Ashok Leyland, as saying. ELBlT is a high technology company engaged in a range of areas in defence sector, including land systems, artillery systems and platforms, howitzers, mortars and ammunition.
