UP CM Yogi in Nepal to attend Vivah Panchami celebrations

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Janakpur to attend Bibaha Panchami, a special Hindu religious event, on Wednesday. A private plane carrying the team of Yogi landed in Janakpur. Federal Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari and Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut welcomed Adityanath in the historic town.

He visited famous Janaki temple in Janakpur, the historic city of Nepal on the occasion of Vivah Panchami today. He was given warm welcome at the temple. Yogi Adityanath offered prayers and sought blessings of Goddess Janaki.

Later Mr Yogi met his counterpart from Nepal’s Province 2 Lalbabu Raut and senior leaders from Federal and Province 2. He was accorded Felicitation Letter by the government of Province 2. Culture Minister of Nepal Rabindra Adhikari, senior leaders of various political parties and Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri were also present on the occasion. Later Mr Yogi joined the community lunch with Sadhus, Saints, dignitaries and representatives of various sections of society.

In a short while from now Yogi Adityanath will participate in Swayamvar and wedding ceremony at famous Rangabhoomi in Barah Bigha ground. Vivah Panchami is observed on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha in Margashirsha month of Hindu calendar.

According to mythology Lord Rama married Goddess Sita on Vivah Panchami. The festival is observed in Janakpur every year to mark the occasion. It is a unique example of age old strong social, religious and cultural bonding between the people of India and Nepal.
