L Ramulu Naik, the independent candidate who emerged victorious from the ST-reserved Wyra constituency, met Information and Technology Minister K. T. Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Wednesday. This has triggered off speculation that he may soon join the ruling TRS.
Mr. Ramulu, a retired police sub-inspector, contested the election from Wyra seat as an independent candidate after being allegedly denied ticket by the Congress party.
He trounced his nearest TRS rival and sitting MLA B. Madan Lal by 2,013 votes in a fierce multi-corner contest.
However, sources close to him said that he met Mr. K. T. Rama Rao to congratulate the latter on his landslide victory from Sircilla seat.
He is likely to take a call on joining the ruling party after consulting his supporters and well-wishers in the constituency in a day or two, sources added.
