TRS continues winning spree in Karimnagar

Party wins 11 seats, Congress and TRS rebel win one seat each

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) continued its winning streak in the Assembly elections by winning 11 seats out a total of 13 in the integrated Karimnagar district.

TRS rebel Korukanti Chander, who contested on Forward Bloc ticket, defeated TRS nominee Somarapu Satyanarayana from Ramagundam constituency by securing 23,616 votes. The only saving grace for Congress was the victory of former Minister D. Sridhar Babu from Manthani constituency by defeating TRS contestant Putta Madhukar by a margin of over 15,900 votes.

Stalwart politician and senior Congress leader T Jeevan, who contested from Jagtial Assembly segment for the 10th time lost to TRS contestant M Sanjay Kumar. Dr Kumar won by a majority of 60,774 votes. For the first time, the TRS emerged victorious from Jagtial.

IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao won for the fourth time from Sircilla by securing a record majority of 88,815 votes. Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etala Rajender won for the sixth time from Huzurabad with a majority of 43,401 votes.

TRS SC cell State chairman Sunke Ravishankar defeated Congress nominee Medipalli Satyam from Choppadandi reserved constituency by 42,127 votes.

Chief Whip and sitting legislator from Dharmapuri reserved constituency Koppula Eshwar faced stiff competition and won by a margin of 317 votes against Congress’s Adluri Laxman Kumar after recounting twice. All other TRS sitting legislators such as K. Vidyasagar Rao won from Korutla with a margin of 30,901 votes, V Satish Babu from Husnabad by 70,202 , Ch Ramesh Babu from Vemulawada by 27.956 votes, D Manohar Reddy from Peddapalli by 8,227 votes, Gangula Kamalakar from Karimnagar by 15,539 votes and State cultural council chairman Rasamayi Balakishan won from Manakondur seat by 31,681-vote margin.

For Gangula Kamalakar, this is a hattrick victory from Karimnagar.

For the first time, three new entrants — Dr. M Sanjay Kumar, Sunke Ravishankar and Korukanti Chander Patel — would be entering the State Legislative Assembly by winning from Jagtial, Choppadandi and Ramagundam assembly segments constituencies from the integrated Karimnagar district.
