PATNA: Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly and RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday asked CM Nitish Kumar if he was willing to backtrack from his previous claim that there would be no challenge to PM Narendra Modi in the 2019 general elections.
Tejashwi’s remark came in the backdrop of assembly election results in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh where the BJP lost to Congress, which is an ally of the RJD in Bihar.
“Just after realigning with the BJP in July 2017, Nitish Kumar had categorically said at a press conference that nobody in this country has the potential to challenge Narendra Modi in the next general elections. Now with all humility, I want to ask Nitish ji as what is your stand on your previous claim after the defeat of the BJP in three states. Are you contemplating to take a U-turn again after talking to your conscience? Aren’t you Chacha ji?” Tejashwi said in a written statement issued here.
Nitish had dumped the RJD and the Congress to realign with the BJP in July 2017. Days after forming a new government with the BJP, Nitish said nobody in this country had the potential to challenge PM Modi in the 2019 general elections.
