KCR to work for new national party

more-in

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that a new national party which will be a consortium of regional parties may come up in the coming months prior to Lok Sabha elections as an alternative to the BJP and Congress.

He told a media conference after the election results were out that he will float the idea to like-minded parties with a view to rid the country of BJP and Congress as they had landed the country in a mess by poor governance. He expected the new national party to enjoy the blessings of people as seen from the election results in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh where they gave mandate to the Congress as there was no other alternative to the ruling BJP.

Mr. Rao said the TRS will give a new direction to the political scenario at the national level by undertaking a “surgery of the political system” which was the dire need. Hyderabad will become the epicentre of the activity. In proposing the new national party, the TRS will not work for alignment of parties but masses. The party will work to end divisive politics in the country.

50% quota

Elaborating the need for alternative to the BJP and the Congress, Mr. Rao cited examples of the Supreme Court delivering a “wrong judgment” restricting reservation to 50%. It was an “irresponsible” judgment which the Centre did not rectify by passing a law to provide immunity from the verdict. He had taken up the matter with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi but to no avail.

The governments at the Centre led by both the BJP and the Congress took no steps to tap the 70,000 tmc ft of river water to the optimum level. The ₹9 lakh crore cash reserves of Reserve Bank of India and an equal amount which was the net worth of Navaratna companies were never put to proper use.

On the contrary, the BJP engaged the minds of public on Ram temple at Ayodhya and not the socio-economic issues confronting the country.

Mr. Rao also blamed the Centre for retaining power in the administration of State governments with the aid of concurrent list of subjects.
