HYDERABAD: The ongoing battle between 'Telugu biddas' K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, is all set to be played out on the national stage in 2019. Within hours of TRS's massive win in Telangana on Tuesday, KCR announced the formation of a new national party.
"This is a big announcement I am making today," he said while talking to reporters after winning the election.
"The national party will be a consortium of regional parties. My call is Congress-mukht Bharat and BJP-mukht Bharat. The earnest effort will be to have a non-Congress, non-BJP government at the Centre in the next election."
KCR refused to give specific details like the name of the new party, although he has been talking of a federal front for some time now.
Sources said that he would give details in Delhi soon. The announcement has come at a time when Naidu is busy stitching up an anti-BJP alliance for the Lok Sabha elections and had held a big meeting of opposition leaders in Delhi only on Monday.
KCR also said that his federal front plan was not like the earlier National Front, formed with "parties coming together for the sake of power".
"I am already talking to economists and intellectuals. I will put forward an agenda that will bring together the polity of the nation," he said.
